Describing itself as student-centred, sustainable, and community-engaged, Ball State University (BSU) is large research university based in Muncie, Indiana. Founded in 1918 it has c.21,000 students registered (c.16,000 at Undergraduate). Classic architecture and iconic statues mix with state-of-the-art facilities on their 1,140 acre site, with all the facilities, sports, clubs and societies you’d expect from a major US institution.

Seeing itself as a traditional university that does things in a non-traditional way, it is a comprehensive university teaching a very broad range of subjects / disciplines at all levels. Filled with traditions galore (Homecoming Bed Race to ‘rubbing the frog’) it’s your chance to immerse yourself into BSU’s diverse and inclusive community.

Located about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis, BSU and Muncie has a thriving arts and theatre scene the envy of most mid-western cities.

Who can participate? All Reading disciplines that allow Study Abroad that are taught at BSU.
Entry requirements: Minimum 55% average.
Semester dates: Semester 1: August- December
Semester 2: January – May
Cost of living:  See BSU Living Costs pages. Anticipated costs are c.$8-10K per semester, including accommodation and meal plan (NB – BSU have advised that Student Services fee, Technology fees and Transportation fees noted are not applicable.
Additional Costs: Visa is required to study in the US.
Will need to take out compulsory insurance – either from BSU or alternative.
NB – Eligible students might be able to recoup costs through Student Finance.
