| Who can participate: | Students who have the necessary background knowledge to work on and successfully complete the advertised research projects (subject to change and competitive process). HKUST eligibility requirements – Have completed at least 2 years of study by the start of this program – Exceptional academic record with demonstrated potential and passion in research – Have attained a cumulative grade average (CGA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent (suggest UoR 60% and above) |
| Competitiveness / Popularity: | – New for AY 2026/27 – Competitive process with students from other HKUST partners. – Students apply for the HKUST Summer UG Research Program in the knowledge that nomination does not mean selection to complete the chosen project. The final selection decision will be made by HKUST. |

| Summer Programme dates: | Session 1 (8 weeks): 11 June – 07 August Participants are expected to show high commitment to the research work. Research supervisors will discuss with participants on the time commitment and expectations |
| Academic / module information: | 2026 HKUST Summer UG Research Program Program highlights – 8 weeks in the summer spent in Hong Kong at HKUST – Work on a HKUST research project under the mentorship of the research project supervisor – Immerse in the local Hong Kong culture through orientation and cultural activities throughout the program – End-of-program event for presentation and discussion of your research work – All research work, reports and presentations conducted in English List of available HKUST Research Projects (subject to change and competitive) |

Finance
| Suggest living costs: | Tuition fees waived for successful exchange applicants. HKUST suggest access to HK$25,000-40,000 for one semester (c.15 weeks) |
| Potential Additional Costs: | – Student visa will be required – see HKUST website. – Participants will need to take out the HKUST insurance even if covered by UoR Travel and Medical insurance. – Costs of flights, accommodation, and general day-to-day living costs to be met by the participant. |
