The teaching and classroom experience was incredible
Incredible teaching with a multinational class. I not only enjoyed learning the interesting course content but also learning about other countries’ cultures and values and seeing what group conversations with students of different nationalities explored.
I gained friends, knowledge and life experience from my summer school. I think I definitely gained confidence in speaking to people from different nationalities, as well as progressing my academic social science skills. I am most proud of my group assignments. This is because it felt different from my usual university assignments – I was working with multiple nationalities, so it was more of a challenge to coordinate our different ideas.
Arriving in a country where you can’t speak the language or even understand the alphabet is hard. Finding methods (or the right apps) to find your way around the city and public transport can take a while! I overcame this by knowing where to go to ask questions and translating on Google.
Overall, this experience assured me that I definitely want to do a year abroad and gave me an indication of where I’d like to study.
