Throw yourself into everything
As cheesy as it is to say, the last 5 months that I have spent at CSU has been and will be one of the best experiences of my life by far! Despite looking forward to studying abroad for many years, I very much underestimated what I had in store. Trying to fit my whole experience into 500 words is borderline impossible, but I’ll explain some of my favourite memories…
The local Americans on campus and in the local town of Fort Collins have got to be the friendliest people I have ever encountered. Vanessa, the study abroad coordinator at CSU, always has the best interest of her students at heart and truly goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and to assist you with any issues whether that’s university related or personally. Despite only knowing the fellow international students for a small amount of time, I have made life-long friendships and memories from the various trips we went both in Colorado and further afield in other areas of the US.
Colorado as a state has got to be one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited. When applying I was told that the state gets over 300 days of sunshine a year, but as I was used to the dreary weather of the UK didn’t think it would actually be true. Boy was I wrong! Even in the winter where the temperature will be in the negatives, the sky will be the deepest blue and the sun will be shining helping to take the edge of the cold and harsh temperatures. Colorado also has stunning vivid sunsets that never fail to get old (as shown below) that especially give the evening games in the stadium a gorgeous backdrop.
So if you’re contemplating applying, I couldn’t recommend Colorado State University more; from the people to the location to the opportunities that are on offer at and around the campus. Just throw yourself into everything they offer and you’ll have the best time!
