A great opportunity and unforgettable experiences
The USA was a great place to go on a year abroad. I was in Texas where the people were very friendly, and the weather was amazing. The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) was a good host institution being near a big city in Dallas which had lots of things going on.
My favourite thing on my year abroad was a week-long trip over the thanksgiving holiday where a few of us rented an RV and did a road trip to 8 different cities throughout Middle America. Hiking through the snow in the Rocky Mountains was a particular highlight and we saw other great places such as New Mexico.
Studying abroad has benefited me by enabling me to learn business in a different culture, as well as giving me the opportunity to try a new culture and meet people and make friends from all over the world. This has significantly increased my confidence and independence too.
I’m grateful for the Turing Scheme which has opened up many opportunities for travel for me, as well as assisting with everyday food/travel costs, which can definitely add up in a place like the US!
Overall, I’d definitely recommend studying abroad, it’s a great opportunity which is worth a go and will provide unforgettable experiences.
