A magical summer in Seoul

Written by Weronika Kubinka

Going to South Korea for a summer school was one of the best decisions I could have made. Although I knew nothing about the country and culture before arriving there, by the end of my stay I really wished I could have stayed for longer. There was something magical about exploring Seoul and feeling at home.

The university provided us with excellent classes and weekly trips to get to know others. My Korean language classes allowed me to be able to, for example, order food on my own in Korean or have simple conversations with my Korean friends.

I really enjoyed travelling around South Korea during weekends with people I met during my stay. My most favourite was Jeju Island, which is a little island south of the mainland. I flew there with my roommate, and we had the most amazing weekend packed with two intense days of exploration.

This summer taught me a lot about myself and made me more confident in my own skills. I wish I could repeat it and I would highly recommend it to everyone!

Receiving the Turing grant was also very helpful as it allowed to minimize the costs of the whole stay.
