Junnie’s Experience at the University of Reading
Hiya! My name is Junnie, a food science and technology student from Mahidol University International College, Thailand.
I’m so delighted to here. Everything went by so fast, but I truly enjoyed every moment.
Looking back 6 months ago, I’ve made challenging decision to study abroad alone at the University of Reading. My main goal was to do a research project in nutrigenetics and spend time exploring more in food science and nutrition. I’m glad I got to do everything I hoped for, and the experience has been so valuable and inspiring for my future career. Apart from academics, campus life made my everyday enjoyable. Walking around the green campus and Whiteknights Lake, joining the events, playing sports, and ending the day with delicious food in the dining halls all made my student life feel really relaxed.
What made this experience even more special was meeting nice people from different countries. Even though loneliness is a big challenge I worried about when studying abroad, I didn’t really feel that way because of all lovely people I met here. Every university staff member has been so supportive, and getting to know friends from around the world made everything even better. We shared our cultures, supported each other, and travelled together throughout the semester, creating memories I won’t forget. And of course, living in Reading made travelling super convenient, and exploring several places in the UK gave me even more inspiration and creativity.
This study‑abroad experience is way more than a degree for me. It pushed my boundaries and helped me grow into a better version of myself.
