Reading: A Piece of Heart
I want to start this short letter by talking about life on campus.
In my life, I had never seen a campus like this, and before arriving here I thought they only existed on Netflix. Coming from a completely different university system, I realised what a dynamic and youthful environment Reading University is, full of opportunities to socialise and have fun. Spending so much time with people makes for very strong bonds, and it’s great to wake up in the morning planning your day with your fellow university students. Literally, since I arrived here, I have met so many people from all over the world, with cultures, languages, habits different from mine, and not a day goes by where I don’t meet a different person. I cannot express how great it is to find myself in an environment that gives me every opportunity to feel at ease. The university is beautiful, full of places where you can study (like an enormous and modern library) and spend your time, and nothing is missing: from the canteen, to the supermarket, to the pubs, it’s a real miniature ‘city’ tailor-made for students.
Furthermore, I found the courses very interesting, with a very practical and stimulating approach to study. During the lectures, in fact, I have the opportunity to interact with other fellow students and the professor by asking questions, participating in debates and sharing my views on the topics discussed.
As for Reading, the city is safe, full of young people and very quaint: there is no shortage of English-style buildings, typical pubs and places to have fun, such as clubs and discos. Transport is perfectly organised, with buses running very frequently, even at night.
I would like to conclude this letter by thanking the office of Study Abroad Office, which since before departure has been very helpful and professional in solving all doubts and possible problems.
I believe that I will always carry with me this experience, which has made me grow and mature in many ways.
