Wonderful Experience

I am Elena, and I study German and politics at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, Germany. Currently, I have the possibility to spend an academic year at the University of Reading. For me, Erasmus means having the possibility to explore the culture of another country by studying at a university there, getting to know other people and not least experiencing a different academic system. I think this is a huge benefit to advance personally because for me, it is firstly a welcome diversion to the university life I have experienced before. It also takes a great amount of personal initiative to apply for the Erasmus programme and to participate finally, so it surely can be a step towards more independence as well. Why did I choose Reading? I really appreciate the welcoming atmosphere here. From the first step of applying, I had the feeling of being welcome and a lot of effort was put into making procedures and the arrival at Reading as easy as possible. Besides, Reading is the ideal starting point to explore the rest of the country. For example, London or Oxford are reachable in about 30 minutes and travelling to the south coast is quite easy, too.

All in all, if you like getting to know and exploring other cultures and enjoy a diversion concerning your university life, Erasmus is a wonderful experience and I would totally recommend it!
